Dr Sabrina Appadoo
TrainingI hold a Doctorate in Counselling & Psychotherapeutic Psychology (PsychD) from the University of Surrey. I am trained in person-centred, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural models of therapy. I also have experience of working within a cognitive-analytic framework.
I can offer my clients short-term or long-term therapy, on either an individual or group basis.
What I Can Offer?
Based in Reigate, Surrey, I can provide both brief and longer-term therapy work for individuals and groups.
At different moments in our journey, life can be undeniably hard. Distress can often be a normal response to difficult circumstances. During therapy, I work with clients to establish a warm and safe therapeutic space where they feel free to express themselves and I can actively listen to, reflect on, and understand their experience. I am trained in various therapeutic approaches, which allows me to tailor therapy to the client’s needs, preferences and personality.
My Way of Working
With the right level of support, I firmly believe that people can overcome the problems that they face and, most importantly, develop the necessary skills and understanding to facilitate and support positive change. In this way, therapy can empower people to live more meaningful lives because it fosters greater self-awareness, enhanced self-acceptance, an understanding of how we interact in relationships, and how the behaviours of others bear impact upon us. It also provides a forum for developing different skills and techniques that may help clients better manage various psychological issues in addition to possibly helping them achieve specific goals and motivations. However, this is not to say that all of us at some point in time won’t face further times of crisis or challenge but that therapy may better equip people to confront whatever life may throw at them.
Although at CPG, we believe in respecting our client’s unique individuality and seeing them rather than their mental health labels, I have worked with clients presenting with different psychological and physical issues:
• Obsessive compulsive disorder
• Eating Disorders (Bulimia)
• Relationship difficulties
• Difficulty in adjusting to a health related condition/disability
• Personality issues
• Anger and aggression
• Work related stress
• Rheumatoid Arthritis

First Session and Fees
I appreciate that the thought of coming to therapy can be a difficult and frightening prospect however, all of us at some point in time have needed some guidance and support. To assist you in deciding whether therapy is the right option for you, I offer two initial assessment sessions where we can discuss the issues you wish to work on, your expectations, and your goals and motivations for therapy. Following this assessment, if you believe that we are not the best match, there is no pressure to commit, and we can think about the best way forwards together.
Rates start from £90 per fifty minutes. I am available some evenings. Clients can pay for the session by cash or cheque at the end of each session. Concessions are available dependent upon individual circumstance and for students.
