My way of working
Therapy can be more than just a space to discuss difficulties, it can be a place of learning, healing, playing and growing. Through life there are times when every individual could benefit from support and taking the step to ask for assistance is an important part of that process. Making the choice to start therapy can feel daunting and this is why the nature and extent of therapeutic support is transparent and directed by the client. My way of working therapeutically values the uniqueness of every individual and aims to provide a non-judgemental and safe space where clients can feel free to express themselves. This therapeutic space can take many forms. For example, sometimes, if words feel difficult or insufficient, creative work can be utilized, such as drawing, using role-play or even imagery exercises. Whatever form therapy takes, it is always tailored through collaboration with the individual and based on their personal needs at the time.
I completed my Doctorate in Psychotherapeutic and Counselling Psychology at the University of Surrey and I've been trained in various therapeutic models including Person-Centred, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). I also have experience in providing mindfulness and systemic therapy for couples, groups and families. A benefit, I find, of being trained in various therapeutic models is that I am able to tailor a unique therapy for every individual. Having an array of therapeutic tools to choose from means that through collaboration, a client and I are able to create something very unique together, picking and choosing the aspects that fit the situation best.
I have experience in working within the NHS, charities and private practice. In addition to this, I have also worked in specialist services providing support for those suffering with addictions and chronic pain. Within these contexts, I have engaged therapeutically with an array of psychological and emotional difficulties, such as depression, anxiety, trauma, addictions, relational issues, psychological disorders, as well as those seeking insight and personal development. I provide therapy for individuals, couples and families, both on a short-term and long-term basis. In addition to this, I also lecture in psychology to Undergraduates and Doctoral students.
I see clients at Liverpool Street and Palmers Green; both locations have easy access for public transport.
My consultation locations:
